Integral Financial Planning

Specific Needs Planning

Rebalancing/Revising

Your primary financial planner has strategic oversight of your portfolio and is responsible for its maintenance. In addition, all our financial planners share in the duty of reviewing portfolios and placing trades. We review the following portfolio review process:

  • We assign your portfolio to a review cycle, which may be quarterly, twice a year or once a year depending on the size and complexity of the accounts.
  • During the review meeting, we discuss your investment positions by providing you performance reports for the overall portfolio as well as on each individual holding for the quarter, year and since inception. The reports compare the allocation of the portfolio with the target allocation stated in your Investment Policy Statement.
  • Once a month, we review your accounts to ensure that sufficient cash is available to cover any expected disbursements.
  • Additional information about the portfolio’s characteristics and return are also provided. Reports on individual assets are sent to you as appropriate.
  • We also thoroughly review your overall financial plan.

Estate Planning

Everyone needs an estate plan, especially business owners because the business is typically the largest asset in the owner’s estate. We can help you address this emotional subject and devise an efficient and effective strategy. Without proper planning, asset distribution may be subject to state law and may not follow the deceased's wishes. Additionally, estates may fall prey to federal and state inheritance and estate taxes. Estate plans help reduce tax vulnerability.

We can also help you wind your way through other issues including:

  • Trusts
  • Legacy giving
  • Insurance
  • Living Wills
  • Health-care directives
  • Durable Power of Attorney
  • Simple Will

We encourage clients to discuss these important issues with their families, and to keep detailed records as well as review the plan periodically.

Risk Management

We address risk issues such as death, disability, and liability, and recommend appropriate action to protect against potential catastrophic events. We also review health, long-term care, auto and homeowners' insurance as well as business office overhead. Each is important for financial well-being.

Ask yourself this question, "Have I addressed the following insurance needs?"

  • Health
  • Long-term Care
  • Liability
  • Disability
  • Auto
  • Homeowners
  • Business Overhead

These are decisions we can help you make.

Tax

Tax laws change nearly every year. Planning should be a long-term, on-going process. Many strategies overlooked during the tax year cannot be salvaged at the last minute.

We help you develop and implement careful tax-planning strategies that can save thousands of dollars over the year. Money saved can be directed toward personal goals: education, retirement, travel, etc.

On the other hand, we also analyze all investments, and if deemed appropriate, we encourage clients to sell under-performing investments to offset gains subject to tax liability. There are times it is more financially prudent to sell and pay taxes than to hold.

Cash Flow/Debt Management

We assist in organizing and reviewing your personal and business cash flow. Together, we evaluate income and expenses. We help you establish cash flow objectives, and suggest changes that will move you toward your objectives. In short, we look at how you spend your money.

Marriage

Combining lifestyles can be tricky. Whether you are married young and for the first time or you’re married later in life and bring children and mid-life resources with you, marriage requires financial planning. We help you blend and grow your new life.

Divorce

At Access Financial Resources we certainly hope our clients' relationships thrive. We know money issues often are one of the major contributors to marital conflict. We always encourage couples to meet together and work together with us. We want both people to be apprised fully of all financial work.

If a relationahip is dissolving, we we can help separate finances. We have helped many clients work through complicated proceedings.

Buy/Sell Agreements

The majority of our clients are professionals: small business owners, dentists, physicians and attorneys.

Over the years, we have helped many clients buy and sell their businesses. Some of the relevant issues include: taking over or merging retirement plans, transition of location and/or staff, total paycheck summary, non-competes, financing, valuing, employee retention, patient retention, working together as "two chiefs" in the same office, etc. We have considerable experience and particularly enjoy working with business owners. If we don't have a particular expertise in house, we bring in a trusted outside resource to help.

Children/Education

We all want to invest in our children and their education. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, college grads earn 62% more than high school grads.

Numerous tax breaks and college savings vehicles have emerged in recent years that help make college more affordable. However, some of the options conflict, which makes how and where to invest a frustrating challenge. No matter where you are in your savings arc or how much you need to save for education, we can help assemble effective savings plans.

Health

Health is something one can no longer afford to ignore. We live in a world of colliding goals and issues. People are living longer. The age of retirement is less predictable. Health care costs continue to escalate. The future of Social Security is tenuous.

We encourage you to include health care as part of your financial plan by considering estate planning, aging parent issues, and your own long-term health care considerations.

Death Disability

Death and disability are emotional times for our clients, their families, and their employees. When devastating events happen, we can act quickly. We build your financial plan to handle potential issues so your family and employees are cared for and loved ones aren’t left with significant problems.

The majority of our clients have been with us for years, some for as long as we’ve been in business—25 years. Through detailed, on-going financial planning, we are very familiar with each client and his or her situation.
